In light of the delayed re-opening of the Dakar Farmer’s Market, I am highlighting some of the city’s best foodie businesses that deliver. Today we continue with Véronique’s Peanuts.
Absolutely hands-down the best all-natural peanut butter in town. Maybe even in the world. Now this peanut butter is not JIF, but so much better. It is all peanuts – nothing else. And it’s made from fresh, home-roasted peanuts. We take back kilos of it to the US, when we used to do the exact opposite and fill our suitcase with JIF!
Véronique not only makes the best, lightest, creamiest peanut butter in town (for a bargain, en plus, only 2500cfa/kilo), she also makes beautiful peanut brittle for 2500cfa/big jar. It’s delicious. Crispy and fresh, not sticky or overly sugary. And it makes great gifts.
Her sugared peanuts or roasted and lightly salted peanuts are also (delicious and) available in 1 liter bottles.
Call 72 hours in advance to order peanut butter and/or brittle, made fresh in her very clean kitchen. 77 537 2737. Véronique speaks French, English, Wolof or Diola. Or you can find her at the December edition of the Dakar Farmer’s Market.
This report on Veronique’s is super helpful! Thank you for posting it! I was planning to bring PB from Canada when I move to Dakar next year.
