Marché Kupé

I love to cook. Really, I do.

I love to plan meals, make shopping lists, buy the food, prep it and cook it. Making food for people is my love language. (You read that book, right?)

However, just because I love doing something doesn’t mean that I have time to do it every. single. day. So when an option opened up for me to order cleaned, prepped fruit & veg and have it delivered at a reasonable price, I jumped on it.

Marché Kupé

Marché Kupé was started by a lovely woman who shared my passion for cooking and my shortage of time to do so. #momsunite Her beautiful, easy-to-navigate website is available in both French and English with clear, concise information so you know exactly what you’re ordering and when it will arrive. Orders are made in 500g increments, which makes it simple as well.

If you’re like me, the first question was where the fruit & veg come from. Marché Kupé sources locally, giving priority where possible to local farmers. The second question was how the produce is cleaned. They use a baking soda rinse and follow the FAO hygienic protocols.

img_6340For my first order, I selected bell peppers cut in slices (fajitas!) and also diced bell peppers, a double order of sliced strawberries (such a good price!), diced carrots (soups and stews!), shredded cabbage (coleslaw!), pineapple cut into chunks and minced garlic.

Now you might think that 500g of minced garlic is too much. Well, you would be wrong. 😀 I mixed in a teaspoon of salt and 1/4 cup olive oil into the garlic, then spooned it into clean jar and packed it in before pouring olive oil over the top to ‘seal it’. Stored in the refrigerator, I now have fresh garlic available in an instant with no mess or clean up. Woohoo!

Marché Kupé delivers in Dakar for 1500 CFA. For home delivery, place your order 24 hours in advance. You can also find them on Facebook and Instagram.
