Chez Bisrat: Ethiopian cuisine in Dakar!

It’s finally here, the moment we’ve been waiting for since the wonderful little resto in Sacré Coeur closed and then Lalibela in Point E did as well. I’m very pleased that Ethiopian cuisine is once again available in Dakar!

Chez Bisrat

Bisrat grew up in Ethiopia where she learned traditional cuisine from her family at a young age. After come to Dakar, she worked in an Ethiopian restaurant here and now is offering authentic meals made in her home and delivered to your door.

Orders are taken 48 hours in advance for a minimum of 7 people order and are delivered. The cost for delivery depends on the location.

CHEZ BISRAT MENU

1.Green beans with Carrot “Fosolia” – 3000 cfa
Ingredients: Green beans, carrot, vegetable oil, onion, garlic, and ginger grilled and cooked with medium heat

2. Cabbage with Potato “Tikel Gomen” – 3000 cfa
Ingredients: Cabbage, potato, curry, vegetable oil, onion, garlic, ginger grilled and cooked with medium heat

3. Chick Pea Sauce “Shiro” – 3000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, vegetable oil, salt, garlic, chickpeas powder, coriander, rue, Ethiopian sacred basil, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seeds, black pepper, red hot pepper, Ethiopian butter.

4. Red Lentil Sauce “Miser Keye Wote” – 3000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, vegetable oil, salt, Ethiopian ‘Berbere’ /red hot pepper/, garlic, lentil, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter.

5. Red Beef Meat Sauce “Red Sega Wote” – 5000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, vegetable oil, salt, Ethiopian ‘Berbere’ /red hot pepper/, garlic, minced meat, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter.

6. Curry Beef Meat Sauce ” Alecha Sega Wote” – 5000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, curry, vegetable oil, salt, garlic, minced meat, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter.

7. Roasted Sheep Meat “Yebeg Tibs” – 5000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, salt, minced sheep meat, garlic, ginger, green paper, black paper, Ethiopian butter

8. Curry Chicken Sauce” Alecha Doro Wote” – 5000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, curry, vegetable oil, salt, garlic, minced chicken, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter.

9. Red Chicken Meat Sauce ” Keye Doro Wote” – 5000 cfa
Ingredients: Onion, tomato, vegetable oil, salt, Ethiopian ‘Berbere’ /red hot pepper/, garlic, minced chicken, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter.

10. Minced Beaf “Kitfo” – 6000 cfa
Ingredients: Salt, Ethiopian ‘mitmita’ /red hot pepper/, minced beef meat, cumin, cinnamon, caraway seed, black pepper, Ethiopian butter. /Raw, mildly cooked or well done/ as per your choice.

Chez Bisrat
Every order is served with three pieces of ‘Injera’ Ethiopian bread. Extra Injera is 400 cfa per piece. Injera is usually made from the tiny, iron-rich teff. In making injera, teff flour is mixed with water and allowed to ferment for several days, as with sourdough starter. As a result of this process, injera has a mildly sour taste. The injera is then ready to be baked into large, flat pancakes. Unusual for a yeast or sourdough bread, the dough has sufficient liquidity to be poured onto the baking surface, rather than rolled out.

Mix of 4 vegetable sauces (numbers 1, 2, 3, 4) – 4000 cfa

“Yefesig Beyaynetu”
Mix of 3 non-vegetarian sauces (numbers 5, 6, 7) 5000 cfa
